Harper Dafforn
Harper Dafforn holds an undergraduate degree in Classics & English from St. Anne’s college, Oxford. She is currently pursuing an MPhil in Latin American Studies at St. Antony’s Oxford. Her current research focuses on the interactions between organised crime, subnational politics, and grassroots activism in Mexico. She has previously worked as translator for the FOUND project and is committed to the intersection between social sciences and the humanities. Her favorite book from the syllabus is Paradise Lost by John Milton.
Ulaş Akkuş
Ulaş Akkuş graduated from the London School of Economics with a B.A. in International Relations. He is currently pursuing an MPhil in Modern Middle Eastern Studies at Wolfson College, Oxford. His current research focuses on pirate radio stations in Turkey during the 60s and 70s. His favorite book from the syllabus is Marx’s Treatise on Alienation.
Matilda Sidel
Matilda Sidel completed her BA in History at Clare College, Cambridge, specializing in medieval and early modern Europe and the history of political thought. She is now an MSt candidate at Jesus College, Oxford, researching vernacular cultures of maritime law in the early Spanish empire. She has edited both the Cambridge and the Oxford Review of Books. Her favorite book from the syllabus is Macchiavelli’s The Prince.
